TIE Fighter poster by MightyOtaking
TIE Fighter poster

So, here's the poster for my animated TIE Fighter short film.
The film is here, by the way: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PN_CP4…

I always loved those really classy oil/acrylic-painted movie posters by folks like Drew Struzan, with all kinds of stuff going on in the background for you to spend ages dissecting with your eyes. You know the ones. So I wanted to try something like that, except in the cel-shaded style of the short film.

The results are nowhere near the original Star Wars movie poster level of quality or composition, but I guess it does the job.

EDIT - Some folks are asking for prints of this poster, so I upped the size. You can just download the fullsize image, print it yourselves and save a bit of cash.
Also, additional stuff -
The music track by Zak -  soundcloud.com/zakrahman/tie-f…
And character info/design documents -  www.mediafire.com/view/cpnc1oj…

Interests
Hello all.
I'm pretty busy at the moment, with three jobs on the go-
Animation and promo art for Out Quest: the Middle East's first turn-based RPG mecha game (here's a promo I did, currently showing at the Dubai Comic Con. Sadly, I'm here drinking tea in England and unable to attend)-
So, more art to come from that in a little while. I did a pretty decent poster for the con, but it hasn't been publically unveiled yet. Here's the project website: www.rasam-concept.com/

Second, lots of cutscenes and room redraws/remasters for the upcoming white chamber HD REMIX GOLDEN DELICIOUS version (that isn't its name). Everything looks better than it did back in our University days  so many years ago, and the characters no longer look like something drawn by a drunkard with only a "how to draw anime" book as reference. Next I'm redoing the sprites in decent HD size. I shall alert anyone who's interested in some point & click horror when Rich makes an announcement, but he's busy coding at the moment and getting all of the new art assets into the game engine.

And finally, 30 seconds of space fleet battle/Jpop idol animation for Bitplane's upcoming album release "Mahou no Idol Strangelove". Check out his music here:bitplane.bandcamp.com/
It has that wholesome retro 8-bit sound that's so damn good to work to.

And as for the Star Wars animation... potentially exciting things are happening with that but I can't tell you due to NDAs. But rest assured that it's currently 7 minutes long, pretty much complete, and the world will get to see it. It's being held back because the Emperor has something special planned (Emperor meaning a certain company, maybe. I deny everything). Now stop asking me about it.

Now, back to work I go.

I just now got around to watching it. As soon as I saw the pilot, I knew it was you who did it.
Great job man.

Just made a comment at your YOUtube post of the awesome animated Star Wars/TIE Fighter anime :).
If you EVER do a Rebel Alliance version, I may have a few Battleship Designs you may like, and I'd donate them to you :).
They were part of my Portfolio to ILM/JAK Films to try to get onto Episode II and I got to talk with Doug Chiang a couple of times and replied with a very cool letter. soo many years ago.

You can see the designs here: mavartworx.deviantart.com/gall…

A "Candy Bar and Coke" to you and man, ILM/Lucasfilm needs to give you a job :D. Loving your Gallery as well!
Congrats to you and much success!

Just saw the TIE Fighter short, and all I can say is:  genius.  You, sir, are a creative genius.  I wish more anime series these days would have your kind of art style.  That kind of art style back in the 1980s was awesome for sci-fi anime (compared to the cutesy-looking anime styles of today).  Cannot wait to see what else you have up your sleeve!  :D

I am so happy that you completed the Tie Fighter movie.  The effort/heart/soul is really evident.  Can't even begin to tell you how hype my friends and I were when we saw the beginning of the project a few years ago.  Wishing you the best and continued excellence!

Dear Sir,

I am a very cool guy, I have a work project for you!
No $$$ but lots of exposure!

I need you to dress in a giant snail costume with your legs fully exposed.
Then proceed to crawl on both hands and knees while an elderly choir holds vigil for the great and powerful Zulnoorain, patron saint of dust pans. After which you will be summoned to the underworld to animate a 104 second gif of plants with monocles.

It is a great opportunity!
Please think about it!!
I am a cool guy!

Sincerely,
TouchMyAss, Esq.

Dear MightyOtaking,

I didn't mean to interrupt you on something, but if I did, I apologize because I just wanna tell you something. You are one of the most nicest, kindest, and friendliest people I have ever seen on Deviantart or other stuff. You be very honest on what you do and what you don't do, you take a break from DA so you could enjoy not just your family, friends, and fans, but mostly yourself! But most of all, you are blessed because you stayed as who you are and you watch out for your original characters and stuff. I may be a young Cartoonist, but I want you to remember these words, "Be proud of who you are, be a great leader, not a follower to those who will deceive you, forgive others no matter what they do, keep your head up and down and survive the bad day, and most importantly, have a wonderful future!" So I just wanna say thank you so much for being who you are and joining and sharing your art in DA in the first place. You are the reason why I told you these things. I want to draw you sometime if it's ok. But stay as who you are and keep up the good work! It's very inspiring:D (Big Grin) !

Sincerely, FunsterTime
