Here's a tutorial on how I did the Jedi piece as half of an art trade for *kitsunedajfox.
Enjoy it with every fiber of your being! The actual process of cel shading isn't that hard... it's knowing where to put the shades that's the difficult bit. I still have a long way to go before I'm as good as Haruhiko Mikimoto or Satoshi Urushihara, but let me share my mighty knowledge so far!

Well, this tutorial is a nice one, but I wonder something... Cell shading has been created to simulate the manga style, but applied to video games. I mean cell shading is for 3d artist to make like you are playing a "manga game". It's a rendering method, more than a graphic style... Usefull because thanks to this, it is not necessary to draw each movement on paper. You just make an animation with a 3d programm and you render it with cell shading effects, and that's done! And now I see artists who are trying to recreate this style, although this style is just a simmulation of manga. Really, I don't understand. Don't you think it would be more appropirate to call this "manga style colouring"?

However, your tutorial is well done, with clear explanations.

I recommended you watch Dangaioh, Bubblegum Crisis and Battle Angel Alita if you want to learn cel shading!
