Walter Tiberius Havershaw's an amazing bad guy. Not only does he have an evil British accent, he's going to do a lot of cool stuff in the fortcoming game, and the one after that.

HOWEVER... would he be as scary if he'd been drawn by a modern anime studio in Japan? The image speaks for itself.
Modern anime is, again, utter, utter shit. Sorry, but it really does look like crap. I had a Paradise Kiss screenshot open beside me as I "drew" (spewed onto the screen) this, and made sure I got just as much (little) shading as there was on that Paradise Kiss image.

And here's the result. If I was forced to draw this badly, I would cut my own guts open and die there and then, I swear.

I agree. Modern anime (for the most part at least) is just g.a.r.b.a.g.e. looking. It's so bad I actually don't use the word "anime" anymore when talking about shows like Hokuto No Ken.

Wouldn't it have proved your point better if you had done the one on the right WELL?

All this proves is that you can draw a bad picture in 18 minutes.

whoa there. that's too much work.
You can just have the character slide out of the frame, followed by a sound effect of a car door opening and shutting.

That should be good 'nuff

yes maybe i got to carried away but todays standard of cartoon animation doesn't stand up to that of 20 years ago

I think maybe you should take two anime from the same genre. Fist is definitely a boys' cartoon while Paradise Kiss is a girl's cartoon. And to be completely honest, I thought the left one was from Yugi-Oh. :/ Unless it was a movie, 80's anime didn't have that much shading or highlights.

That depends on what you watch. AKIRA and Ghost in the shell BLOWS AWAY most of what's out nowadays. But when it comes to budgeting I respect that. What's ParadiseKiss's excuse?

Paradise Kiss's excuse is that is a TV show and not a movie.

Also, it has roughly 1/20th of the budget of Akira or GitS.
