OK, so the line art from yesterday isn't finished yet. I'm working on it though! ^^ In the meantime, here's the same character (main character from the game, actually) in a couple of different expressions, for use in the White Chamber when we finally finish it off.
About this pic: So far, there's no cel-shaded stuff on my gallery. However, I love cel-shading so much that I actually think proper, 4-tone shaded classic anime shading from the Macross movie, Battle Angel Alita, Gundam 0083 and Gunbuster (etc etc) is, basically. the greatest form of art on Earth! Anime these days tends to only have 2 tones (I mean, come on! That's only one tone more than Disney!), which is a real shame as a lot of fans who get into anime nowadays don't realise how completely and utterly incredible it used to look in the late 80's-mid 90s (Just take a look at DANGAIOH to see 5 tones on the screen).
In short, I wanted to draw something that had at least 3 tone shading. With the highlights, that brings it up to 3 on most bits (4 on the gloves and skin), so I pretty much succeeded. And if you like this at all, then go out and watch Bubblegum Crisis right now. Go on! ^_^
And not that flat-looking 2040 rubbish either! Lol.
I like your character designs. They're reminecent (sp?) of the old style anime OVAs they had in the 80s. I'm a fan of White Chamber, and you're wonderful at character designs and backgrounds too. I'm glad I stumbled onto your gallery.
Uauu, I didn't know you had a DevArt. TBH I prefer two tones for skin and three for hair and metal, but I think it really depends on light level.. the more contrast there is in a scene (like, light streaming into a dark room) the more tones are appropriate.. but in a nice overcast day you can get away with one
In defense of 2040 vs the OAV series, we do have to remember the limits of a TV series budget and time constraints that aren't necessarily as bad with an OAV (with different directors each time too).
holy crap if your the creater of the white chamber then you are a freiking genius it took me at least 6 hours to beat it it was amazing expecally the redemption ending i mean dude your probly one of the most epic people ive ever known btw i was wondering if you could draw out one of my characters for me see im not a very good artist and you seem to surpass any artist ive ever met
